colby rasmus is a poor man's andrew muccutchen. he's a little older, a little farther along in his development, and a little less talented. but he's still very talented. also he's left-handed. he could end up better. he showed good patience at high-a.

Career Pitching Statistics for Jaime Garcia:

jaime garcia has really good control and really good home run limitation. what a surprise, he's a lefty.

should be looking good for a major-league career, but won't be doing that strikeout thing.

Career Pitching Statistics for Chris Perez:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2004 Miami NCAA 20 NCA 18.2 17 2 18 30 .198 .589 .047 7.71

chris perez has some good contact rates and some really good home run rates, but control is an issue. should be useful in a bullpen.

blake hawksworth had some injuries, and he's back. he's got decent control, decent contact rates, and good home run prevention. if he stays healthy, he'll play in the majors.

Career Batting Statistics for Jon Jay:

2006 Quad Cties Midw 21 Stl A 236 31 27 3 16 .116 .886 .091 .342

jon jay is a left-handed batter who makes really good contact. he'll have to develop power if he wants to be a star.

bryan anderson is a catcher with very good hitting skills. he's young, and he bats left-handed. he's got decent patience, good contact, and line-drive power. i really like this kid.

Career Pitching Statistics for Adam Ottavino:

that quad cities team had a lot of talent. adam ottavino has decent strikeout skills and decent home run limitation but poor control. he'll need to work that up to pitch in the majors.

Career Pitching Statistics for Mark Mccormick:

mark mccormick has lots of talent but terrible control. i don't think he's gonna make it. he might make it eventually.

the fact that josh kinney's on this list is a testament to the thinness of the system. at 27, there's nothing to project. he's a major-leaguer.

Career Batting Statistics for Daryl Jones:

2006 Quad Cties Midw 19 Stl A 82 9 23 1 6 .099 .720 .119 .235

daryl jones is a young outfielder who looks like he can make it. he's got all kinds of speed and strength and everything and needs to learn the game.

kevin goldstein has mostly the same guys but in a better order. he has cody haerther and tyler greene instead of jon jay and josh kinney. i would choose jay and haerther. his sleeper is blake king.

Career Batting Statistics for Cody Haerther:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG

cody haerther is a lefty with good contact who needs a little more patience and a little more power. i like his chances.

Career Batting Statistics for Tyler Greene:

tyler greene is a shortstop with good speed who just doesn't look like he's gonna have enough to make it. hitting-wise. i mean, the problem is hitting. he's got some power but he doesn't make contact. and he doesn't have enough power that it's ok that he doesn't make contact. he just doesn't look like he's gonna make it.

skip schumaker is a centerfielder with speed and contact who bats left-handed. you know where i'm going with this. if he works the count, he can be an on-base guy against tough pitching. with his defense, he's a good guy to have on a major-league bench.

johnathan edwards. good start in rookie ball.

the cardinals are fine. they got albert pujols, chris carpenter, and guys who can play. that's all they need.
Comments:
how is the "walconpow" system better than baseball prospectus' EqA "(H + TB + 1.5*(BB + HBP + SB) + SH + SF) divided by (AB + BB + HBP + SH + SF + CS + SB)." how can it be THAT much better than a simple stat like OPS?

thanks for asking. my system is not a performance metric, as EqA and OPS are. my system is designed for skills evaluation, to determine a player's value to a team and to predict future performance.

the other thing you can do with my system is look at matchups. how will this batter do against this pitcher. different types of players fare differently in different types of situations.
