as 2005 came to a close, things looked pretty rosy. then, a terrible troy glaus trade, prospect setbacks, and a manager problem sent everything to hell. also injuries.
the prospect setbacks were the backtreading of russ adams and aaron hill, and the injury to alex rios. the key injury was aj burnett. still, they finished in second, and they have a good core of young talent ready to make a run. i really think they should change their manager though.

adam lind tore it up in 2006. i was pretty excited about that because i made him my number 40 prospect. other people didn't because he couldn't play defense, and he hadn't played above a-ball. but i saw those 46 doubles and triples, and i knew. when you have contact and power, you've got a hitter. he was #4 on last year's list.

travis snyder raked in pulaski. i guess that's in the mountains, cause it's the appalachian league, but you gotta like the patience, and the power. and because of his youth, he's got plenty of time to get the contact going.

ricky romero did well in high-a but was challenged in double-a. he's young, with good control, but he hasn't wowed anyone yet.

ryan patterson is an outfielder with good power, but the patience and contact are suspect. i think if he gets the patience, the contact will come around, but that's a big if. he made good contact in college. i kind of feel like he'll do something.

curtis thigpen. 2006 was good because he showed patience and power. he's a catcher. it seems he has yet to put it all together. all the pieces are there. they should be careful not to rush him.
curtis was my number 41 prospect last year.

francisco rosario i don't know i guess this is an indicator of how thin the system has gotten. he turns 27 this year and he still hasn't established himself in the majors. i don't think you can really call him a prospect anymore.

brandon magee limits home runs and has good control. it seems the blue jays underestimate the value of strikeouts.

jesse litsch has retarded control. that can be enough to succeed, but it's a thin margin.

david purcey is a lefty, but his control is terrible. this is a really bad system.
balbino fuenmayor is the last guy on the list, and he might as well be higher, because these last few guys are not prospects. fuenmayor was signed last year at the age of 16, so anything's possible. once some numbers start coming in, you'll get some analysis.
Comments:
the other prospect setbacks were that all the pitchers who looked good last year stopped looking good.
