Matt Cain gets 112.5 million over 5 years.
There is no way this will be worth it.

Ok explain. Unless a pitcher throws correctly (which at this time 0 Major Leaguers do), every pitch damages the pitcher's arm. It's possible that the Giants get lucky and Cain's arm will last, but it's likely that production declines each year or he gets injured. Spending 20 million dollars on nothing is terrible failure.

The Zito contract produced no lessons.
