this is a crappy system. there's very little upper-level talent. there is some talent in the lower levels, so maybe it will be a good system in a year or two.

Career Pitching Statistics for Carlos Carrasco:

he pitched in the sally league at the age of 18. why wasn't this guy on the list last year? carlos carrasco is young and had good results last year. the future is bright.

Career Pitching Statistics for Kyle Drabek:

there are questions about kyle drabek's makeup. i don't know what they are but i think he'll make it. here's his wikipedia page.

2006 GCL Phils GCL 18 Phi Rk 158 19 28 2 9 .107 .823 .085 .318

adrian cardenas is a lefty-hitting middle-infielder with good pitch selection and contact skills. that's a strong combination.

Career Pitching Statistics for Edgar Garcia:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2005 GCL Phils GCL 17 Phi Rk 55.2 63 4 13 42 .053 .817 .021 3.56

edgar garcia has very good control, and has already pitched in low-a at the age of 18. those are good things.

scott mathieson had tommy john surgery, so you can't really put him on the prospect list. at least you can't put him this high. before he got injured, he showed good control, decent contact percentages, and decent home run limitation at a young age, so you certainly can't rule out a major-league career.

Career Pitching Statistics for Joshua Outman:

you gotta love a pitcher named outman. josh is a lefty with strikeouts and mojo. we'd like to see more control.

greg golson is not going to make it.

kevin goldstein has d'arby myers instead of edgar garcia. his sleeper prospect is jesus sanchez.

his baseball cube statistics got glommed onto the page of jesus sanchez the pitcher. next year he'll probably have his own page. this kid is young and has good hitting skills. i think i'm the only person who thinks the bobby abreu trade was a good trade for the phils.

the rest of the kids in the trade were matt smith, c.j. henry, and carlos monasterios.

jason jaramillo is another good-looking catcher who made strong improvements last year. he was underrated last year, and he wasn't even on the list this year, but he completely skipped high-a and showed contact and power in double-a. people pay too much attention to batting average. with barajas, ruiz, jaramillo, and sanchez, the phillies are looking good in the catcher department. they also got that guy ryan budde.

so i don't know. ed wade ran this team into the ground, but it looks like pat gillick is doing the right things. with the strong futures of the braves, mets, phillies, and marlins, the national league east will be exciting for years to come.

a good site for phillies prospects is phuturephillies.com. that's where i found dan brauer.
