this is a crappy system.

Career Batting Statistics for Felix Pie:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2002 Az Cubs Ariz 17 Chc Rk 222 25 47 4 29 .101 .788 .189 .321

2006 Iowa PCL 21 Chc AAA 562 51 126 15 41 .083 .776 .128 .283

felix pie is a good player. he has power, he's fast, and he's left-handed. he plays center field. his stats don't look that impressive but he's been extremely young for his level his entire career. he needs to be more patient.

Career Pitching Statistics for Donald Veal:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2005 Az Cubs Ariz 20 Chc Rk 10.2 8 2 5 14 .111 .650 .077 5.06
2005 Boise Nwes 20 Chc A- 29.0 18 2 15 34 .125 .676 .028 2.48
2006 Peoria Midw 21 Chc A 73.2 45 4 40 86 .131 .677 .022 2.69
2006 Daytona FSL 21 Chc A+ 80.2 46 3 42 88 .127 .694 .015 1.67

donald veal has good contact percentages, but he seems to be unable to throw a strike. that's a problem he'll need to fix.

if he does though, watch out. you don't see CON's like that and HRP's like that on the same player.

Career Pitching Statistics for Jeff Samardzija:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2004 Notre Dame NCAA 19 NCA 64.0 50 5 17 42 .066 .826 .025 2.95

2006 Peoria Midw 21 Chc A 11.0 6 1 6 4 .133 .897 .029 3.27

scouts love this guy. i don't see anything in the numbers, so i can't comment. low home run totals.

Career Batting Statistics for Tyler Colvin:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2004 Clemson NCAA 18 NCA 128 12 16 2 10 .086 .875 .107 .289
2005 Clemson NCAA 19 NCA 258 17 31 5 24 .062 .880 .128 .287
2006 Clemson NCAA 20 NCA 282 31 42 13 27 .099 .851 .167 .356
2006 Boise Nwes 20 Chc A- 269 19 55 11 18 .066 .796 .136 .268

tyler colvin showed a lot of talent at clemson. he has power, he makes contact, and he's left-handed. the problem is he doesn't seem to have any awareness of hitting strategy. he's got to work the count. the best thing power can do for you is get you on base, because pitchers are afraid to throw to you.

Career Pitching Statistics for Sean Gallagher:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2004 Az Cubs Ariz 18 Chc Rk 34.2 38 0 11 44 .072 .690 .000 3.12

2006 W. Tenn Sou 20 Chc AA 86.1 74 4 55 91 .142 .727 .017 2.71

sean gallagher sean gallagher sean gallagher. he looked good in the florida state league last year, with a .063 WAL and a .742 CON. then he went to double-a and lost his control. he's always had good ERA's. he's young for his level. it looks like he'll make it.

Career Batting Statistics for Eric Patterson:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2002 Ga Tech NCAA 19 NCA 263 45 42 3 17 .146 .840 .090 .346

2006 W. Tenn Sou 23 Chc AA 447 47 89 8 31 .095 .801 .109 .263
2006 Iowa PCL 23 Chc AAA 70 6 9 2 2 .079 .871 .066 .358

eric patterson is a lefty-hitting second baseman, born in my hometown of tallahassee, florida. with his speed and contact he can get on base. course walking is easier.

he did well in the arizona fall league, with 12 walks, 16 strikeouts, and 15 stolen bases in 113 at-bats. still, there's not enough contact yet to be sure.

Career Batting Statistics for Scott Moore:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2002 GCL Tigers GCL 18 Det Rk 136 13 31 4 8 .087 .772 .114 .293

2006 Chi Cubs MLB 22 Chc MLB 38 3 10 2 2 .073 .737 .143 .263

scott moore is a lefty with decent power and some patience, but he's gonna have improve something to make it.

Career Batting Statistics for Ryan Harvey:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2003 Az Cubs Ariz 19 Chc Rk 51 8 21 1 5 .136 .588 .200 .235

2005 Peoria Midw 21 Chc A 473 33 137 24 32 .065 .710 .167 .257
2006 Daytona FSL 22 Chc A+ 478 29 125 20 26 .057 .738 .130 .248

ryan harvey has good power, but he swings too much.

Career Pitching Statistics for Christopher Huseby:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2006 Az Cubs Ariz 18 Chc Rk 17.1 21 1 6 14 .076 .808 .017 5.19

chris huseby is a young pitcher. as with samardzija, there's nothing for me to comment on.

Career Pitching Statistics for Mark Pawelek:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2005 Az Cubs Ariz 19 Chc Rk 43.0 25 0 21 56 .120 .636 .000 2.72
2005 Boise Nwes 19 Chc A- 3.0 6 0 1 4 .063 .733 .000 0.00
2006 Boise Nwes 20 Chc A- 61.0 54 1 23 52 .088 .781 .005 2.51

mark pawelek is a lefty with mojo. the question is does he want to pitch.

kevin goldstein had the same 10 that baseball america did. i'm gonna mention two more guys.

Career Batting Statistics for Sam Fuld:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2001 Stanford NCAA 19 NCA 232 38 28 0 17 .141 .879 .083 .357
2002 Stanford NCAA 20 NCA 293 26 33 8 24 .082 .887 .123 .375
2003 Stanford NCAA 21 NCA 306 42 30 4 27 .121 .902 .112 .321
2004 Stanford NCAA 22 NCA 254 50 39 4 6 .164 .846 .047 .273
2005 Peoria Midw 23 Chc A 447 57 44 5 38 .113 .902 .107 .300
2006 Daytona FSL 24 Chc A+ 354 45 54 4 25 .113 .847 .097 .300

he's a lefty, he's got speed, and he makes contact. see where i'm going with this? i always talk about these guys, but this is a type that can play in the majors.

Career Pitching Statistics for Billy Muldowney:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2004 Duke NCAA 0 NCA 31.1 39 5 10 27 .070 .797 .047 6.89
2005 pittsburgh NCAA 0 NCA 83.2 78 4 19 89 .055 .729 .017 2.47
2006 pittsburgh NCAA 0 NCA 82.2 80 4 24 99 .068 .698 .017 3.16
2006 Boise Nwes 0 Chc A- 43.2 43 2 11 42 .059 .759 .015 2.68

he's a changeup guy. billy muldowney has good control, decent contact rates, and good home run limitation. he's got a shot to make it.

ok, we're done with the cubs. felix pie is good, the rest is potential. jim hendry has massacred this team. not that there was much there to begin with. this has never been a well-run organization. that said, lou piniella is a winner, and there's a chance he could do something before they devour themselves in a mass of contracts and mediocrity.
