he still looks good this year. lots of power, lots of average. contact + power = average. actually it's more of a multiplicative thing, but you get the idea. patience is decent, too. it's time for this guy to start appearing on top 50 lists.

daric barton had an injury last year, but he's still got it. patience is outstanding. contact is very good. power is very good. complete hitter. winning hitter.

jermaine mitchell has great patience, good speed, he's left-handed, and he plays centerfield. making contact and hitting for power will be the question, but the odds are good.
Career Batting Statistics for Javier Herrera:

i disagree with most experts on javier herrera. i think making contact will be a challenge for him. i think he's got a lot of work to do.

this is cool. marcus mcbeth was an outfielder, and he sucked. now he's a pitcher, and he's good. he had a lot of strikeouts in double-a with not very much experience.
Career Batting Statistics for Justin Sellers:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl AAB W K HR 23 WAL CON POW AVG
2005 Vancouver Nwes 19 Oak A- 176 27 24 0 9 .133 .864 .059 .274

it seems clear that the a's are the team that most knows what they're doing. justin sellers has excellent strike-zone skills. what else is new for an a's prospect. he's gonna make it. possibly just as a backup, but i think there's more here.
Career Pitching Statistics for Trevor Cahill:

there's nothing to talk about here. wait till next year.
instead of the last two, kevin goldstein has kevin melillo and henry rodriguez. ever since i said i liked goldstein's lists better, i've been liking baseball america's lists better.
Career Batting Statistics for Kevin Melillo:

2006 Midland Tex 24 Oak AA 506 72 98 12 34 .125 .806 .113 .280
kevin melillo improved his patience last year, which i consider significant. defensive concerns make it hard to project him into a useful role.
Career Pitching Statistics for Henry Alberto Rodriguez:
Year Team Lg. Age Org Lvl IP H HR BB SO WAL CON HRP ERA
2006 Az As Ariz 0 Oak Rk 43.2 46 1 50 59 .220 .667 .008 7.42
henry alberto rodriguez. jesus. that's a lot of strikeouts, but that's a lot of walks.
so you see here the thing is the a's are good. what was i saying earlier? i said the a's are the team that most knows what they're doing. i'll explain. maybe they don't have the best scouts. that's the twins or the dodgers or something. but they have good scouts. and they're incredible at finding value once everyone has passed on. and their instruction is the best. these kids learn to play baseball. no one else has the kind of patient, correct approach to the plate across the board. the strike-first, correct approach to hitters. you don't need a lot of money to succeed. you just need some money.
