Nice article about the A's. I'm an A's fan, so I'm always interested to read stuff about my team.
One minor correction: Billy McMillon is not fast, and is not a good defender. As soon as the A's get a lead, he gets replaced in the outfield by one of the other guys. If he gets on base after a pinch hit, he often gets pinch-run for.
Everyone knows about the OBP stuff, but the A's have been systematically replacing good OBP for good defense since the 2000 off-season, when they dumped Ben Grieve. I think they figured something out about the value of defense, and they're not really sharing.
